Why preparation before the interview matters
Online interviews allow Japanese companies to meet candidates in Vietnam quickly and efficiently.
However, if hiring requirements or job details have not been communicated clearly, both sides may need additional confirmation after the interview.
Infinity Vietnam recommends preparing the following five points in advance.
1. Clarify the hiring criteria
Before the interview, the company should define:
• whether previous work experience is required;
• which skills should be assessed;
• the expected level of Japanese;
• requirements specific to the position;
• factors that will be prioritized when selecting candidates.
The clearer the criteria are, the easier it is for the Vietnamese side to screen suitable candidates.
2. Explain the job clearly
Candidates should receive clear information about:
• daily duties;
• workplace location;
• working hours and shifts, if applicable;
• the working environment;
• required skills;
• training after joining the company.
Photos or videos of the actual workplace can also help candidates understand the position more accurately.
3. Prepare questions that match the hiring objective
In addition to reviewing the candidate's background, companies may ask about:
• attitude toward work;
• ability to cooperate with others;
• how the candidate deals with difficulties;
• commitment to learning Japanese;
• goals for working in Japan.
For technical positions, a basic practical skills check can also be included.
4. Give candidates time to ask questions
An interview should be a two-way exchange.
Giving candidates the opportunity to ask about the job, living environment and working conditions helps both sides align expectations before employment begins.
5. Share results and feedback promptly
Whenever possible, companies should communicate interview results within a reasonable period.
Basic feedback also helps the training team in Vietnam identify areas that should be improved for future recruitment.
